Just returned from hunt with top gun trek. When I arrived at camp I noticed another guy gear at camp at that point bob and guide let me know they would be a unguided hunter in camp hunting caribou only as the plan was to return and hunt moose out of base camp. Wasn’t to happy about it but figured he’d be done and moved on when we returned from spike camp. The next day we go on to spike camp and everything is good. We hunted for sheep the next day and I’ll be honest it whipped my butt and decided to focus on moose unless a sheep was spotted while hunting moose. We hunt out of spike camp till our food was low. As we returned to base camp the unguided hunter had got a caribou but had also got a moose. While in field I expressed my frustration to guide and he assured me this has never happened. At this point I text Bob with my frustration and his response was that the hunter wasn’t suppose to shoot a moose and there’s plenty of moose. At this point we still hadn’t had a opportunity at a legal bull. We hunt for few days and never had a legal bull opportunity. Weather was forecasted to move in on my original fly out date so I opted to fly out day early because truck rental was non negotiable on return. After returning home I emailed bob to let him know the issue I had with a unguided hunter hunting out of same camp. Bob’s response was since I “quit “ my hunt my complaint wasn’t valid. Also made a comment about me quitting my sheep hunt, I don’t believe disrespecting a client by constantly saying I quit my hunt is professional. Especially since that’s far from the truth we covered lots of miles daily. I asked if this is normal operations to drop a unguided hunter in same camp with guided hunter but never got a response and to be fair if I was told this could happen I would have took my business elsewhere. As far as the game goes we seen a good many moose out of spike camp but very little out of base camp where the unguided hunter had been hunting. From the communication after the hunt I could never get Bob to understand that it’s not normal for a guided hunter to be hunting the same area as unguided.
