We are being discriminated and treated like a criminal because we have asked for repairs that should have been done before moving in. We have a baby and our credit score is perfect and we have been in our previous apt. for 9 years at a great place. WOW! Nothing excellent about this place. We were deceived into moving in an apartment that was not ready and functional. This is not a complaint this is the reality that we hope no future tenant will be exposed to. The Michigan law states that apartments cannot be rented with chipped paint and big repairs that the landlord knows about and if any repairs they need to be done in a reasonable time. The lease states that tenants have a right to quiet occupancy. Instead we were given such an apartment, with such problems and some of the repairs took more than a month, some were not fixed at all, and during this time we did not have a quiet occupancy. Furthermore, the company tried to manipulate and intimidate us treating us more like a felon even though we are decent citizens with a perfect score. Upon our move in the apartment was not ready. We discovered filthy bathrooms, falling apart drawers, rusted appliances, paint chipping, no kitchen shelves, noise from M59, unhealthy black mold in the bathroom, glaze over the tiles is peeling (normally grout is placed in between), poop on toilet, windows transpire and water is coming down, walls and doors are damaged and patched over, doors do not close properly and the staff damaged them further when they tried to repair them, kitchen is super small with old cabinets and the drawers are falling out of screws and off tracks. The landscaping is non existent staring with the front entrance of the complex. No seasonal flowers that you find at most complexes, bushes are dead, grass is cut and the debris stays on top making it look all dry, cigarette buds, poop and litter everywhere. Potholes are present everywhere on the road, balconies and stairways not painted, not handicap friendly but they have signs everywhere (we have a friend that could not come for a visit because of steps and potholes next to their handicap signs), We have been here for a month and our family have been subjected to stress and financial loss due to the staff's lies about getting the apartment ready for move in. The staff proved unprofessional and is lacking the skills to fix things. The unprofessional maintainance staff is "loosing their pants" showing the underwear when they come to the tenant's apartment and around baby as well.
