This has been the worst purchasing experience of my life.
First, I go to look at a couple of boats. Jason, the manager, passed me onto another worker to view the boats. The whole time I got the impression that they thought they were doing me a favor. I would ask a question, for example; "does the boat have a warranty?" Granted it is 14 years old, but many places offer extended warranties. The response was "why would we warranty something we didn't build?" That should have been my first red flag.
Second, I decide to make the purchase, got approval through their "awesome" financing connection, who added another 2.5% to the interest rate due to the age of the boat. Fine, let's move forward as I plan to pay it off early.
Third, the following week I had a trip to Havasu planned and was going to bring the boat, so I requested to come and inspect it before I signed the paperwork. I was told the boat had a complete service before I made the offer, but then was informed that the trim sensor had to be replaced and it was a specialized Yamaha part that had to be ordered. Therefore, I did not get to run the boat that week.
Final after a week and a half, they called me to set up the inspection and I signed the paperwork and took possession of the boat. On that Friday, Jason stated he would go to the DMV on Monday and get tags for me. After not hearing back, I called them and they stated that the DMV was delayed and they would call me back the next day with an update. It is now 2 weeks later, I have called them every other day as not to be a nuisance and each time they tell me they will call me back by a specific time. Last Friday I was told I would get a call back in 10 minutes. I waited until the following Tuesday (today) and had to call them again. This time I let them know my frustrations.
I get it, with covid the DMV is a worse mess than it already was to begin with, but how hard is it to have some kind of basic customer service skills and follow through?
I am doing YOU a favor as a customer supporting your business, not the other way around.
I have had the boat for almost 3 weeks, have had to cancel multiple plans around this and I am not even sure the thing floats! Their response was "of course it floats" to which I replied "you continuously lied about calling me back so why would I trust that statement?"
I finally received the registration tags and guess what? I paid the CA Quagga Mussel fee but mysteriously they lost those tags and tried to imply it was my fault!
Every time I called, I was promised a call back. I only received a call to schedule the inspection appointment.
Update 07/07/2021 - After only launching the boat 2x, it was apparent that the main cross members were bonded and spray painted over to hide severe rust and are now cracked making the trailer completely unusable. Now I have a $20K boat that I can't even use. Insurance doesn't cover rust damage.
Also, the boat was listed as having a complete service done, however I had to replace the oil sensor due to a leak.
Lastly, I still have not received my plates for the trailer.
If you want to be treated poorly, given the run around, sold a piece of junk and be treated as a nuisance, this is the place for you!
