If Evolve was the last cabinet company on earth, I truthfully could not recommend them. We initially hired Evolve in 2021 as part of a complete remodel including a kitchen, two bathrooms, and built-in closet shelving. To date, that was one of the most regrettable decisions I have ever made. I have truly never come across a company or contractor who was so entirely incompetent and unprofessional. The first red flag came with the initial bid, which we signed and requested information to wire payment (and was supposed to be binding), yet, Evolve sat on it for weeks, and demanded a nearly a 55% increase in cost after their 2 week delay (to no fault of ours – and ignoring the initial “binding bid” we had signed and submitted). This was foreboding of nearly a full year to come of errors, mistakes, along-side with behavior I would describe as combative, petulant, unethical, and unprofessional (toward both the us the client and other contractors on the job). Examples are countless: Evolve would sporadic work in intervals ranging from weeks to months – work on the job for a couple hours each time, leave unannounced, and almost never communicate when they would be back. Every time I would reach out and try to schedule more work, it was a new excuse which would delay work for weeks on end (typically endless family affairs and vacations). Emails and calls would routinely go unanswered. When installs did happen, there were mistakes where measurements were notably off (sometimes by an inch or more). Many of these mis-measured cabinets were installed by the owner Stan himself, who would say nothing at the end of the day, hoping it would go unnoticed. One notable example was the install of the kitchen island that was so un-level that the counter company could not install the counters without the GC doing significant last-minute revisions on the day of install. When I asked the owner of Evolve about the counters, he simply stated it was “unprofessional for the GC to comment on his (inept) work.” When handles/pulls were installed, they were unequal to others (which were to be mirrored) by over couple of inches. When I asked about mistakes in wood cuts the response was always that “fillers” could be used, and/or the owner would be both combative and defensive blaming anyone any anything else. Pulls were also installed on cabinets that dented a brand-new high-end counter depth fridge, and Evolve installed non conforming screws for the dishwater panel, removing the original screws, which resulted in huge gouges in the display of the dishwasher. I had to have the display replaced. Evolve never took responsibility for permanent damage to new high-end appliances. I would also routinely hear from my GC about near physical confrontations picked by Evolve’s owner and son-in-law when they were on the job site with our other sub-contractors. When they finally came back to "fix" the work and complete the job, many "revisions" were done by slapping on a filler wood-tape in areas where measurements were wrong, which stared peeling off less than a week later. Certain drawers, such as the garbage, have never closed properly. I have emailed countless times for months about the garbage drawer without response. This is all despite the fact they got paid for every penny they billed and requested (despite the countless issues). In sum, the work in its entirety is sub-par, inept, and when accompanied by the unprofessional nature of the company, this is not a company you want to trust with your custom cabinet build or remodel.
