Worst experience I've ever had at a bike shop. I have so many negative details and issues with this shop, that I'll try and wrap up in a review.
In summary, I dropped off my bike to mostly have the valves tuned, fix loose exhaust, and fix leak in front fork. I was told he needed to order a couple parts, that would take 3-4 days to get in, and would have my bike back to me within a week. With quoted estimated hours needed to complete service, I assumed invoice would be about $1,000. They kept my bike for 5 weeks and charged me $2,000. I called several times to check on the status and was given different excuses every time and that they needed "a couple more days". The excuses ranged from waiting on parts (which he used for about 3 weeks), another bike was taking longer than expected to finish, a mechanic quit in the middle of a shift, shop caused an oil leak that they couldn't figure out, ect. Always an excuse with no accountability from the owner.
Their hourly rate is $137, which is about average. Besides for all the additional hours they charged, what added up to a few hundred dollars more than expected is what they charged with every little part they supposedly used. Apparently they had to put several new bolts on the bike, and charged $15/bolt and $5/washer. So a single bolt with washer was $20. They also charged for other things like $23 for cleaning rags. Really?
Now, when I went to pick up the bike, they caused damage and issues to my bike that weren't there when I dropped it off. Again, no accountability from owner.
- The exhaust was still loose, and the way he adjusted it, it was touching/rubbing on the back tire. You can a rub mark on the tire from when they went for a test ride. But he still charged me to "fix" it. Owner response, "yeah, you probably need a new exhaust"
- A bolt was missing that held 2 plastic body pieces together. Owners response, "you should be able to get one of those at Ace"
- A plastic clip was broke that helps holds the plastic to the frame. It now pops out when driving and doesn't stay secure. Owners response, "well those are cheap Chinese plastics"
I brought my bike to this shop because they had good reviews online and said they would have it completed in a week. Maybe they used to be a good shop, but seems like they've gone way down hill. With the owner constantly making excuses, employees walking out in the middle of shifts, lying about waiting on parts (or didn't order parts when he said if it took 3 weeks), 5x the amount of time to complete, double the price, damage to my bike; this got completely ridiculous. I promise you can find way better shops in OKC than these guys.
Be very careful taking your bike here. Don't expect to get it back when they say. Expect cost to be much higher than quoted. And expect to have more damage to your bike than when you brought it in.
